“And the Band Keeps Marching On” at the Barbican London – Sat, 23rd Feb 2019
And the Band Keeps Marching On – written by Martha Barnett, directed by Svetlana Dimcovic
When John, a sheltered rural Orangeman, has a crisis of identity after his first ever trip to ‘the mainland’, his wife, Susan, battles to hold the family together and keep everything looking perfect for the impending Twelfth of July. But, when John invites a young Belfast blood & thunder bandsman into their home, Susan’s carefully constructed middle class world starts to fall apart as her past comes back to haunt her.
And the Band Keeps Marching On is a darkly comic study of identity and crisis within Northern Irish Loyalism.
The play will feature at the Barbican on Saturday, 23rd February 2019 at 5:15pm.
