A door locked for 70 years in a house haunted by history.
THE OTHER SIDE OF EVERYTHING explores how the past is transmitted across generations in the post-Yugoslav region. As the filmmaker begins an intimate conversation with her mother, the political fault line running through their home reveals a house and a country haunted by history. The chronicle of a family in Serbia turns into a searing portrait of an activist in times of great turmoil, questioning the responsibility of each generation to fight for their future.
THE OTHER SIDE OF EVERYTHING is produced by Dribbling Pictures (Serbia) and Survivance (France). The documentary is the first HBO Europe co-production with Serbia, and was met with critical acclaim across the former Yugoslavia. After its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the film won the IDFA Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary. It won more than 25 awards at international film festivals. The film is a nominee for the LUX FILM PRIZE of the European Parliament which is the first time in ten years that a documentary is among the 3 finalists.
THE OTHER SIDE OF EVERYTHING will be released in cinemas in France on October 24, UK on November 7, Austria on November 9 and Germany on November 15.
DocHouse Firsts is a unique series of films selected by DocHouse from international documentary festivals for their creative and powerful storytelling. These cinematic gems do not have UK distributors and otherwise would not be seen on the big screen in London.
