“ISKRA” – Monodrama
A theatre performance in the form of a monodrama, centred on the life of our great scientist Nikola Tesla, presented from the perspective of his mother Angelina/Đuka. The story covers the period from Nikola’s birth to his mother’s death. The plot is mainly focused on the family’s origins, the history of both his maternal and paternal sides and his relationships with his closest family members. One of the key themes is identity, national and religious belonging, devotion to family and especially to his mother. Tesla’s childhood mischiefs, youthful dilemmas and the mistakes he made, life abroad and his brilliant inventions are described from his mother’s perspective, often in a way that differs from how others saw him.
