SCC December 2009 event and Season's Greetings

Many thanks to all of you who came to our event on Thursday, Dec 17th in spite of the pre-Christmas crowds and snow! We wish a warm welcome to all our new members and we hope the evening was fun and interesting as always.

As this was our last monthly event for this year, we think it only suitable to give you a short recap of what we achieved in 2009. The biggest achievement of this year was definitely the launch of our new website www.serbiancityclub.org at the IOD in November, as well as the co-organising the first ever "Serbian Week in Great Britain" in January. SCC visited Belgrade twice (in March and in October) where we introduced ourselves to the media, relevant Ministries and companies interested in the returning professionals from Great Britain. In the meantime we had events with the Governor of the Serbian Central Bank Radovan Jelasic, Ministers in the government for Finance and Diaspora, Vlade Divac and the Serbian Olympic Committee, our colleagues from the Romanian and Ukranian City Clubs, ... We also had the opportunity to present ourselves at events in Sheffield, Oxford, Cambridge, etc. And most importantly, the number of our members doubled this year, from 400 to 800!!!

We are already working on co-organising the second "Serbian Week in Great Britain" for the end of January - beginning of February 2010. We also plan and hope to be able to launch SCC in Belgrade formally in May of next year in order to bring our 'brain drain reversal' project to a new level!

Whilst hoping that you will continue to support our efforts with your attendance at our events, your ideas and active participation, we wish you all very pleasant holidays over the Christmas and New Year period and a very happy and successful 2010!
